ART & ARTISTS

A Bar At The Folies-Bergere.

Why Art & Artists are important, in relation to Culture, Heritage & Legacy, are well documented in European Fine Art Traditions.

Today, in the twenty- first century, the claim is, anything can be art! I fully accept this statement, with clarity.

All things can be viewed from the standpoint, perspective, and perspicuity of art. But what are the rules, to determine if an object or something created, is art or not?

When creative objects are examined by groups of art experts, the questions are severe. Do the created object or ideas, fit the rules, and match the criteria of art?

Within the new Global Inter-connected world of the Fine-Arts. Everything is opening-up, different ways and methods are being utilised, to do the same age old things. Giving value and meaning, to the creativity of recognised art, and acknowledged artists.

At the Time, to fully understand the meaning of this new body of works , deeply. A Curator or Art Experts, would need to be familiar with the ‘Intuitive’ movement of Art & Culture in Jamaica.

Although, I am not self-taught, attending art schools in London. Reaching art-maturity, my thoughts, ideas, and practice stems from a source of pure intuition, much more than traditional frameworks, and concepts.

A television exhibition of my works, was screened on ‘Morning Time’ a chat show broadcasted during the late 1990s, in Jamaica.

The works on show, clearly demonstrated the many routes and changes in contemporary art, and among artists.

The Content & Cultural Context of the works on view were all about the Heart, Soul, State of Jamaican Society, and people at a particular of moment time. During major changes at the close of the twentieth century.

The title of the first work shown on ‘Morning Time’ screen, was titled ‘Portrait of A Lie’ – Red Eye and Green with Envy. The image remained on screen, whilst the Host & Me off screen, discuss the work on view. The body of works following through, were all viewed with commentary in a similar manner.
