OVERVIEW
Danijah Tafari is a multi-discipline artist, known for mixed media paintings, fine art photography, monotype printmaking, written and spoken word performance. His source for making work, started from within the cultures of the African-Caribbean communities in London, UK.
Currently, working between the West Midlands and Africa, Addis Ababa. His creative practice covers a wide range of interest and concerns, including, personal introspection, vivid reflections, the human condition in relation to society, and the psychic energies operating in nature.
Initially working from a figurative base, his new body of works is evolving into pure abstraction, through the medium of photography. A direction that was becoming evident in the series ‘Light & Lens.’ In the last decade the camera became the major tool and methods to make work.
Danijah is now utilising the photographic medium not only to create, see, and capture images, but also to intuitively draw and paint at the same time. In his new body of works, photographs are no longer simply a document to record reality. The images he creates are like dreamscapes, true confessions, sci-fi memories and cryptic imaginations.
